Situated immediately outside the north-western boundary of the Bardhaman municipal area, the proposed site for the new township is located at the intersection of the GT Road. The GT Road bypass runs close to its northern corner while the NH-2 or the GT Road, passing through Bardhaman, lies to the east of the site. Making it easier to commute to industrial notspots such as Durgapur (62 kms away) and Asansol (100 kms away) on one side and to Kolkata on the other.
The site extends to approximately 800 meters from north to south and about 1200 meters from east to west. The area is relatively flat and slightly lower than the adjourning by-pass. the site also encompassess 5 relatively big water bodies summing to a total area of 0.654 acres. With excellent transport and communication networks, Bardhaman is connected to the world through road, rail and air. Its well-developed railway system brings major towns and cities of the country closer, while Kolkata's Netaji Subhas chandra Bose International airport is only 95 kms away. And soon, Bardhaman will be reaching out to the world through India's first Airport city, which will be set up at Andal.
What's more, today's Bardhaman also benefits from the rapid industrialisation sweeping the rest of Bengal. From Durgapur's bustling steel city to the future of Bardhaman looks good. Especially if you're looking out from Renaissance Township. |
